Donating to a local Scout Group

Established in 1936, Hextable Scouts is jointly the oldest group in the Swanley district.

It started in a corrugated iron hut in Princess Road, and, after a great deal of fundraising, a new headquarters was built by parents and friends on a plot of land leased from the Kent Education Committee.

But although their location has changed, the group’s aim has always remained the same: to give young people a great time while learning to become responsible citizens.

In September 2021, Blackthorn Homes was delighted to speak with Group Scout Leader, Richard Abel, to learn more about the group and its plans for the future.

David James, Managing Director at Blackthorn Homes, said: “I know first-hand the positive influence a Scout group can have on a young person’s life, and it’s a pleasure to help in any way we can.”
