Supporting a local children’s charity

Beams is a charity based in Kent who support disabled children and young people with learning difficulties and complex health needs.

Supporting over 450 families at any one time, the charity provides enriched experiences and skills-led workshops through various avenues, including family advice, short breaks and overnight care known as the Dragon’s Retreat.

Caroline Brinkman, Income Generation Lead at Beams, said: “We were delighted with the donation – it could not have come at a better time.

“The past year has been the toughest in our history and we have survived to celebrate over 25 years of offering care to disabled children and families in Kent and Midway.”

David James, Managing Director at Blackthorn Homes, said: “We recently completed a development of family homes in Hextable and watched to give back to the community by supporting various local charities and groups.

“As this was my Blackthorn Homes’ first development, I based myself onsite to oversee the project from start to finish. This gave me the opportunity to get to know the residents and community very well over the last two years.

“Beams is a wonderful charity, and I very much look forward to visiting when things are a little more settled.”
